Julianna Van Mulligen, MA, Registered Psychologist

Hello and welcome.

I am a Registered Psychologist offering virtual sessions to individuals located in Ontario and Alberta. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia and a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University. I have experience working in a variety of settings including a crisis line, a university counselling centre, a Native Friendship Center, and in private practice.

My practice focuses on individual counselling sessions, catering to those seeking support with a range of mental health and life issues. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a particular interest in supporting women aged 20-40 as they navigate relationship challenges, life transitions, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, I specialize in working with Highly Sensitive People (HSP), offering tailored support to help them navigate the unique challenges they face.

In my counselling practice, I embrace a trauma-informed and eclectic approach, working collaboratively with my clients to facilitate their journey towards living authentically and wholly. I draw from a range of depth-oriented and mindfulness-based approaches—including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and person-centred therapy—to help clients connect more deeply with their emotions and inner experience. I’m currently expanding my training in experiential and attachment-based approaches.

Beyond therapy, I have been an ethical vegan since 2012 and care deeply about the environment and the wellbeing of all living beings. These values are central to who I am and inform the compassion, respect, and mindfulness I bring into my work with clients.

I enjoy exploring new places and experiences, and I find solace and inspiration in nature and animals, often spending my free time walking my dog Frida, running, hiking, volunteering at an animal sanctuary, and cooking/baking healthy vegan food.
